The Auxiliary and Technical Course in Geriatrics, by Do It Better, aims to train professionals with skills that allow them to perform functions with the elderly population. In this course, techniques to support the elderly will be addressed, in addition to knowledge about health promotion, health problems and deontological factors.
These themes will lead to an understanding of the importance of hygiene care, body mechanics, user mobilization and transfer, professional ethics and performance in multidisciplinary teams in the context of homes, day centers and home support teams. In addition to all the knowledge already mentioned and developed during the training, we will also address the Prevention and Control of Infection (PCI), namely for the virus that causesCOVID-19.
With regard to the form of training organization, and considering the demands of day-to-day, e-Learning and b-Learning present themselves as an opportunity for professional qualification.
The structure of the Auxiliary and Technical Geriatrics course at Do It Better is split in modules and in an e-learning format, whose objective of the contents covered aims to provide the acquisition of knowledge and skills so that the trainee can follow a successful career in the field of Health, more specifically in the field of Geriatrics.
Requirements: Minimum age:18 years old (if the trainee is a minor, an authorization from the person in charge of education is required for integration in the course) | School Qualification: 9th grade or equivalent.

The Auxiliary Technical in GeriatricsCourse has as main objective to qualify the trainees to attend and take care of the elderly population, identifying the basic essential care, the most common pathologies, as well as the support provided by the multidisciplinary teams.
Thus, it is intended that trainees, at the end of the course, be able to:
- Recognize the ethical requirements associated with your professional activity;
- Identify the deontological factors associated with your professional activity;
- Recognize your own skills and functions;
- Recognize ethical and deontological requirements in relation to your co-workers, the organization itself and the external public;
- Recognize the importance of factors that contribute to health promotion;
- Recognize the most common health problems in old age;
- Identify the state of the terminally ill patient at home, applying the methods and techniques of assessment and prevention;
- Provide care, under guidance, to the terminally ill elderly;
- Define what PCI is, its role and WHO recommendations;
- Describe source control, administrative controls and environmental and engineering controls;
- Describe additional PCI measures to be taken to assist with general preparation within a health facility.
