Since 2010, clinics or dental offices must, in addition to the clinical director, have a practice assistant/service staff (article 11, Ordinance no. 268/2010 of 12 May). Therefore, the Dental Assistant will play a fundamental role in the functioning of a dental clinic, being involved in tasks that range from logistical management, through service and monitoring of clients (users), to supporting Dentists during their medical acts.
The DO IT BETTER® Dental Assistant professional training course includes the teaching of techniques for which knowledge of the anatomy of the human head and different dental treatments is essential. Taking the course will also allow the acquisition of knowledge about the importance of oral hygiene and safety care, personnel and clinical instruments and materials, and about the practices of activity and professional ethics and professional performance in multidisciplinary teams in the context of services health applied to dental clinics. It will also be the ability to manage and make efficient decisions in the professional context that will lead to the construction of a professional career suitable for carrying out these functions.
The Dental Assistant professional training course thus allows the acquisition of skills in mastering certain administrative procedures and management of dental clinics and in supporting the use of technical devices used by Dentists. In this way, the future professional can, in a clinical context and under the guidance of a qualified Dentist, carry out tasks of counseling, monitoring and prevention of the dental system.
